Most of the plumbing issues that happen in our household are minor ones and can be dealt with calling a plumber to fix these problems. For instance, some of the general plumbing problems that occur in kitchen are leaking tap, loose pipe and blocked drain trap. These issues are not major issues and if you call a professional to fix it, you will be spending money unnecessarily because these things can be fixed by you. If you know to fix these problems, you will be able to avoid the cost of hiring a plumber. First of all, you need to find out where exactly is the problem. If you notice that water is leaking from two-control tap, you should understand that problem is within the tap. It can occur mainly because of worn outwasher. Washer helps in preventing water from dripping out of the tap. If you have come to know that there is leaking beneath the skin, you need to let the water flow by turning on the tap and then you need to look for loose pipe. Below the sink, the drain trap can get blocked easily.

Now that you have identified the problem, you need to stop the supply of water. Beneath the sink, you can find two supplies that supply hot and cold water to the tap. You need to turn on the tap so that and let all the water come out of it. You can now start doing the fixing work on the tap. You can put new washers and tightly fit the pipes. You need to take out tap controls and tap valve stem. You need to remove the washer by unscrewing it. Since washers are available in different sizes, you need to buy washers of the same size. To get the same sized washer, you can take the washer to the hardware shop and ask them to provide same types of washers. Put on the new washer at the base of the stem.

Use a thread seal tape and wrap it around the tap stem's threads and then put the stem into the valve. You can do the same procedure on the other one. You need to go below the sink and by using a crescent wrench you need to make the nuts present on both water supplies for hot and cold water tight. Once you have tigh ened the nuts, you need to turn on the water to see if there is any leakage. If you find a leakage, you need to apply thread seal tape. Even after applying it, leakage is still present you need to replace water supply line tubing with a new one from a hardware shop. To clear clogging at the drain trap, you need to unscrew the big sized nuts. The pipe of the drain trap is U-shaped and is located below the sink. This is where water blocking takes place. Pull out the pipe slowly and wipe it clean. Put the drain pipe trap back to its place and put a little thread seal tape at the threading. Now you can turn on the water and you will noticed that all kitchen plumbing problems are solved by you.
