My experience chasing weight loss is probably not much different than most people. I have worked at weight loss and weight management for most of my adult life. I'm now sixty years old. There was a time when I tried all kinds of the newest and latest methods to loss weight quickly, I have used pre-scripted diets, diet products, even eating habits therapy.

There are plenty of benefits that we can really get from eating foods that are healthy for the heart. These heart healthy foods are packed with phytonutrients that help our bodies stay away from diseases and repair damaged cells in the body. But the most apparent health benefit that we can get from eating heart healthy foods is the lower risk of developing heart diseases. The best foods that are good for the heart are fruits and vegetables because they have help in cleansing out the free radicals in our blood stream.
Each and Every afternoon it happens, that lethargic brain fog that decreases your efficiency and overall creativity. Where exactly does your energy go? There is a natural rhythm in our bodies that causes a temperature drop and release of melatonin. It is similar to what happens before we go to bed, but on a smaller level. Not having a healthy breakfast and lunch can also add to the afternoon train wreck, making you tired. It all comes down to making healthy choices, and choosing to implement mindful and healthy behavioral strategies to give you that midday jump start!
Besides having some lean protein with every meal, the following 3 foods can help maintain your energy level or give you a boost:
Beans: Beans are full of fiber, which also slows down digestion, providing even levels of energy. Try bean soup, whole wheat pasta and beans or bean dip and veggies. Have fun and be creative and test out new recipes.
Nuts: Rich in magnesium, nuts like cashews, almonds and hazelnuts also provide protein; and research has shown that low magnesium levels can sap your energy. Because 80% of nuts' calories come from fats (although healthy mono and polyunsaturated fats), stick to 1 oz. or about a handful of nuts for a serving size.
Tea: Tea is a milder source of caffeine than coffee but it contains L-theanine, an amino acid that improves both alertness and memory. Green tea's antioxidants, especially EGCG, have shown healthy benefits ranging from heart and cancer prevention to a decrease in weight, blood pressure and cholesterol.
Always check with your doctor first and make sure that these foods are included in your healthy life style management plan. If you have any restrictions on fluid intake, add some orange, lemon or lime wedges for extra flavor and enjoy!
