Scientific researches suggest that unlike Reactive attachment disorder, ODD starts when the child is a toddler. Sometimes it persists till adulthood if proper care and scientific measures are not taken. A child suffering from ODD problem has frequent anger related problems. He/she may be detached from the family as well as the society as a whole. Most kids with this disorder suffer from acute depression, have regular physical and mental health problems and ignore their caregivers or parents. Though there are various genetic, environmental as well as individual factors related to it, yet it mostly happens because of improper parenting, fear of separation, bereavement and prolonged depression. Oppositional defiant disorder and Reactive attachment disorder are two of the most significant psychological problems that require immediate attention of parents, as it occurs simply because of lack of proper communication between the parents and the child. Often ODD becomes difficult to cure because of the unsolved attachment disorders that happened in the development stage. For this reason, sometimes it becomes difficult to handle an out of control child for his/her constant attitudinal problem. Therefore, in order to provide a permanent solution to this problem, various Oppositional defiant treatments have come up. 1. A lengthy counseling session is organized with the child as well as the parents. The main aim of this counseling session is to sort out communication gaps between the child and the parents. The parents are also advised to stress on proper parenting, improve their personal relationship and understand the emotional requirements of the child. It is almost impossible to cure Oppositional defiance among children if parents do not change their behavior towards their disturbed child. 2. Psychotherapy: This is a personal counseling session where the psychotherapist talks to the client or the patient to help him/her sort out psychological problems. In case of a child, the psychotherapist tries to find out the reason for his/her outrageous behavior. It also puts equal importance to the symptoms of the problem. It includes a number of scientific techniques that awakens the sense of their own well-being. Techniques may include dialogue, communication, anger management and test of behavior change. 3. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: Children suffering from chronic behavior disorders are often subjected to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. The main aim of this therapy is to reduce behavioral problems and decrease negativity through goal-oriented and cognitive therapy. 4. Social Skill Therapy is yet another Oppositional defiant disorder therapy that aims to improve the social bondage of the child. An introvert child is more likely to go through complex emotional turmoil rather than the one who is extrovert and jovial. For this reason, Social skill therapy is undertaken in order to facilitate interaction and communication of the child with others. Doctors are coming up with further detailed therapeutic solutions to cure the mental and physical health of a child.
