For past two millenniums, a wide variety of traditions and practices are being followed by people to mark this occasion. The day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Jesus.
A variety of Christmas ornaments are used to decorate Christmas tree. These were initially hand crafted and was treated as a fun time with family. Adults and kids sit together, spend some quality time with each other and make these beautiful Christmas decorations to beautify their Christmas tree. There are some very easy and simple Christmas ornaments that can be made at home and the opportunity can be utilized to involve kids as well. A variety of ornaments such as Santa Ornament, Christmas tree ornament, Snowmen ornament, Jute and jingle bell decoration, Jingle bell wreath Pony bead Christmas tree, family name ornament, miniature presents, drip ball ornament, Chenille Candy Canes, Toothpick snowflake ornaments and the many others can be made at home.
The story goes like this that when a newly purchased Christmas tree stand broke, a tree ladened with the Radko family's antique ornaments fell. For his family, Christopher Radko ruined Christmas. So to right that wrong, he decided to take a trip to Poland trying to find replacements for the ornaments. In 1986, the first collection consisted of 65 ornaments.
In several European countries, ornaments are produced like Italy, Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic. In the old fashioned way, each ornament is still made and takes seven days to create. Over the past twenty years, more than 10,000 different items have been created.
To include numerous products that fall into three lines, over the years the Radko name has grown. These Radko lines are- Home for the Holidays (tabletop/decorative accessories), mouth-glown glass ornaments and Shiny-Brite, retro looking ornaments and decorations designed by Christopher Radko. Radko produced an exclusive line for Target much to the chagrin of long-time collectors several years ago. To the expert collector, the difference was obvious and the target line was limited and many felt it hurt the brand name in the long run.
When looking at the hundreds of different designs produced every year, Christmas collectors can be easily overwhelmed (1,100 in 2006). On a particular type of ornament or design and go from there sometimes it is best to focus in. Including whimsical, traditional or story book styles there are lots of choices, as well as ornaments supporting charities and groups. Not been represented by a Christopher Radko ornaments, it would be hard to name an item, character or culture.
