Water is one of the most important nutrients for our body but unfortunately its importance is overlooked whenever discussion relating to our body’s nutritional needs is done. Water is very essential for our survival; it is second only to oxygen in this regard.

Water is one of the most important nutrients for our body but unfortunately its importance is overlooked whenever discussion relating to our body’s nutritional needs is done. Water is very essential for our survival; it is second only to oxygen in this regard. Our body requires water for various reasons. Benefits of water for our body are countless. Some of those benefits are mentioned below.
Water plays an important role in the weight loss process. Our kidneys cannot function properly without drinking plenty of water on daily basis. Lack of water intake shifts some of the load from kidneys to liver and then liver uses stored fat in our body as fuel but this really slows down the fat burning process. Moreover, water helps in reducing hunger and prevents overeating because some times, our body is unable to differentiate between thirst and hunger.
Water helps in the cleansing process of our body by flushing out toxins and other waste products from our body. It is very important to increase water consumption when you are taking high protein diet because it removes the excess nitrogen and other toxic chemicals from our body that are generated by the protein rich foods.
It is a common misbelieve amongst the masses that drinking too much water makes us store water. However, the truth is exactly the opposite because drinking plenty of water actually helps us in losing the extra water weight. Our body only stores water when our water intake is inadequate so it is recommended to drink water throughout the day.
It is recommended that a normal human being should drink at least one gallon of water on daily basis in order to keep our body functioning properly. It is important that you increase your water intake in order to properly hydrate your muscles and body. Drinking water throughout the day will make you feel more energetic and less fatigued. Drinking water also makes your skin and hair healthy. Moreover, it is easier for our mind to focus properly when we are hydrated. Thus water is definitely the stuff of life because we cannot live without it and our body is more than 70% water.
