This October, Apple launched the most highly anticipated smartphone of the year. This is the iPhone 4S. However, there were a number of the phone maker's enthusiasts that were disappointed with the phone's overall design. Instead of getting an all new design, they got exactly the same design and dimension of its predecessor the iPhone 4. Despite the similarities, do not count this phone out just yet. You have to take a closer look to appreciate this new iOS-powered handset.
The first major difference is the phone's processing power. The 4th generation handset comes packed with a 1 GHz single-core A4 chip. This was enough to allow you to enjoy more from running a multitude of apps simultaneously and running games with intense graphics. Its successor has more to offer. The new smartphone comes packed with a 1 GHz dual-core A5 chip. This is the same chipset on the iPad 2. This offers more processing power and the ability to multi-task. It will also allow you to enjoy more from graphics-intensive games.
The previous version was 2010's highest selling handset. However, it did come with a design flaw. This was its antenna. If you held the phone a certain way, the phone's signal would weaken. To resolve the problem, Apple released cases that boost signal strength. This problem has been resolved with the iPhone 4S. It is equipped with multiple antennas. This will prevent the loss of signal without having to outfit the phone with special casings.
October of this year was the same month the Cupertino firm rolled out the iOS 5. This is the latest iteration of Apple's mobile operating system. With the 4th generation smartphone, some users had to wait for hours to download the latest OS version. With the amount of users downloading all at once, many had to redo the process. With the iPhone 4S, this will never be a problem. The phone is pre-installed with the iOS 5.
Aside from shipping pre-installed with the iOS 5 straight out of the box, the smartphone also has a feature unique to the handset. This is Siri the voice-controlled personal assistant. This new feature will do everything you say. She will look for the nearest restaurant. She will call contacts. She will even check your account balance when needed. Siri is a feature no other Apple device has to offer.
As you can see, both smartphones may look exactly the same. However, the iPhone 4S has all the innovative features Apple has to offer.
