The medicinal drugs which are generally designed for use in medical purpose are used by the drug addicts to get a heightened feeling. Most of these medicinal drugs have opiates in them which cause a feeling of euphoria when taken in large quantity. Medicinal drugs are easily available in the market, because of which people do not have to face any kind of problem getting hold of these drugs. The extent of drug addiction is increasing every year because of this drug abuse. This malpractice is observed mainly in the teenagers; they often do not get hold of any lethal drugs like cocaine or morphine, so they try these medicinal drugs like the painkillers or antidepressants to carry on with their addiction. Moreover, since these medicinal drugs are used in large extent in the medical sector, they cannot be banned and the addicts take the advantage of this inability of the Govt.
The addiction to medicinal drugs sometimes also comes accidentally; when a person is prescribed with some sort of strong medicinal drug to deal with physical ailments they suffer from, that person can get addicted to that drug if taken for a prolonged period. But, in most cases, people get addicted when they take these drugs intentionally. The use of medicinal drugs is seen mainly in the teenagers; addiction to the medicinal drugs is the most discrete one and cannot be noticed by others. The addicts just have to gather a doctor’s prescription and they can get their drugs from any medical store. Acquiring a prescription is not a problem for anyone; the addicts complain the doctor for any fake physical ailment and get the prescription. Addiction to the medicinal drugs is almost similar to addiction to the lethal drugs and cannot be easily left with proper treatment in any drug abuse treatment center.
Once a person starts taking the medicinal drugs, he or she gets gradually dependent on that drug both physically and mentally. The drugs take total control over that person mind and body, the addicts cannot think of anything else other than these addiction drugs. These drugs become their only friend and support; and with years of usage of these medicinal drugs, death approaches. Because of the strong attractive force of these drugs, the addicts cannot even leave the addiction even if they want to. People cannot get rid of this drug addiction unless they get proper treatment in any drug abuse treatment center. The drug addiction treatment centers attempt several procedures to help the addicted patients get rid of the addiction. Drug addiction is like a disease in our society; people must take proper precautions to uproot it totally from the society otherwise it will destroy the whole society. People, who are not addicted to any kind of drugs, must try each and every possible step to help the addicts leave their addiction and get back to their normal life.
