As most college students know, the price of buying textbooks is outrageous. Most college textbooks cost between $ 80 - $ 100, or even more, and when the class is over you are left with a textbook you have absolutely no use for. There's a smarter way to get cheap college text books. It's called textbook rental.
Textbook rental has become increasingly popular for students that need to save money. You get the same, like new textbooks that you would get if you bought them, but they are yours temporarily. When you rent textbooks, you only pay for as long as you use the book. Here's how the process works.
Search through the library of available book rentals and find the textbook you are looking for. Make your request and the textbook rental will arrive at your home or dorm. Then, you pay to use the book. When you are done with your class, you send the book back (usually at no cost to you) and you pay nothing more. You're not stuck storing the textbook, and you have absolutely no further responsibility or obligation. You will pay a fraction of the cost for a text book rental than what you would pay to buy one brand new. Yet, the textbook rentals always arrive to you in good shape and in like new condition.
There are some students that would argue that when you are done with your college textbooks, you can sell them for cash. However, that is not necessarily true. The truth is, most classes change the textbook that is required very frequently. Thus, there is very little chance you will be able to sell a textbook because by the time you are done with it, it may no longer be an updated version. Then, you are stuck with a textbook that you have no use for.
Finally, an important benefit of choosing textbook rental is it eliminates tree waste. Instead of having the same textbooks mass produced over and over again, less textbooks are needed when they are available for rent. When we can save trees, we are helping the environment.
