If you have the budget for marketing it is well worth considering your options. Marketing can greatly increase your profitability as well as your brand recognition.

It is important to create a brand as this enables you to form some kind of identity, vital for your customers to recognise you. It helps you to stand out against the competition and make yourself heard. Marketing might include:

1. Exhibiting at trade or industry events. Networking events are a great way of talking to potential clients and making useful contacts. With the right contacts, you can make a real difference to your company and start gaining recognition. You don’t even have to exhibit if your business is still new, you can simply attend (it costs hardly anything to get a ticket) and you can then talk to the bigger players in the industry, finding out what they are doing and how your business fits into the industry.

2. Get a website. A website is such a must in this day and age. Everyone likes to check out websites before they speak to a company or even do business with them. A website says a lot about a company; it tells a person who they company was formed by, how much experience they have, what services they offer, the prices, and where they are located. It also gives off a lot of hidden messages, like how friendly the company is, how serious they take their work, how knowledgeable they are, etc. To get a decent website you need a professional website designer. 3. Brand everything. After you have a logo, web address and phone number, put it on everything from the bottom of your emails, to your letterheads, compliment slips, pens, pencils, and any outgoing correspondence. 4. Direct mailing. It doesn’t’ have to cost you a lot to send out e-newsletters, just time and perhaps a compatible mailing system. Ensure that your clients remember who you are, what you’re doing, and any latest news or product information. It is important to keep you fresh in your clients minds and remind them of you on a regular basis, but not too often (you don’t want to irritate them!)
