Once upon a time, photography evoked images of a huge contraption covered with some cloth and a tired looking photographer with two days’ growth of stubble and a black and white era. How fast those times have passed by!!!! And now thinking of photography evokes images of beautiful coloured glossy pages of images with very advanced cameras and an equally upgraded model of photographer who is in touch with the latest technology.

How fast those times have passed by!!!! And now thinking of photography evokes images of beautiful coloured glossy pages of images with very advanced cameras and an equally upgraded model of photographer who is in touch with the latest technology.

Earlier the ordinary camera could only take still pictures, while now there are mini DV cameras, hard drive cameras, DVD cameras, camcorders and so many more which can do almost anything except probably dance the Flamenco!!!

Mini DV is one of three common digital formats used in sound and picture recording. Using digital technology, Mini DV captures video and audio on high-density cassette tapes. Mini DV camera recorders are very popular, as they deliver sound and video that is decidedly sharp and high quality. The Mini DV format is one of the most commonly used formats for camcorders.

This format is inexpensive compared to the costs of other camcorders. And most professional videographers use Mini DV camera recorders to shoot anything from weddings to nature safaris because of its exceptional video quality.

Cameras and camcorders with tapes have been replaced with in-built hard disk. These hard drive cameras are a recent innovation and very popular. The hard drives are not removable like tapes and once the space is filled up, the recordings have to be transferred to the computer or DVD or deleted. So, when buying a hard drive camera , it is preferable to buy one with a large memory. External hard drive is also available, so that is also an option which can be explored.

A DVD camera recorder can be a great way to record those special moments. It is now possible to record home movies and play them back immediately in the DVD player. There are a lot of models in the market to choose from. Like CD players, these camera recorders are prone to skipping when shaken or dropped. Therefore, it is important to look for a camera with good anti-vibration mechanism.
