The HTC S series covers the majority of demands from phone users, with the only possible gap being that no model incorporates a slide out keypad. This however can be forgiven when you see the quality that is on offer across all three models.
Mobile phone super brand HTC have spiced up their impressive line up of models for 2011 with the introduction of the new "S" range of handsets. This range consists of three models designed to appeal to every kind of smartphone lover, from the first time user to the seasoned pro looking for the ultimate in functionality.

Of these three phones, lets take a look at the Desire S first, because as its name suggests, it is the successor to the original Desire a phone that users the world over fell in love with as it offered the perfect balance of looks, size and specification. So why would I upgrade my perfectly good Desire handset to this new model? Well for starters the new model does boast both a smaller size and overall weight, despite the fact the screen has remained the same as before. These changes are by now means drastic, but certainly when using the S model, it does feel very slight, yet somehow maintains that sense of robustness that HTC phones always exude. The first phone was ahead of its time with its 1Ghz processor, so it is no great surprise to see that remain, although a higher quality snap dragon chip is now used, whilst RAM sees its size increased to 768MB. Obviously being a good year fresher than its older brother, the Desire S incorporates version 2.2 of Android rather than 2.1, whilst video capture can now claim HD quality thanks to its ability to capture film at 720P resolution. The Desire S looks and performs great, whether you would rush out for an upgrade is arguable, but you could certainly do a lot worse if you're looking for a new phone.

The HTC Incredible S, as its name kind of suggests, is a pretty amazing beast, one which quite rightly sees itself as the brands flagship model. A 4inch screen is perfect for anybody looking to fully utilise the devices media features, especially the excellent video playback facilities. It is not only the screen size which has received a boost, HTC have added 3 million extra pixels on the camera sensor, enabling this model to shoot 8 mega pixel photographs, which is in addition to the high quality 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera. In terms of design, the Incredible S is arguably one of the most stylish models ever released, withs it dulled down black, industrial looks offering a stark contrast to the metallic and somewhat cheap elements found on many models.

If you are looking for compactness rather than performance, then the Wildfire S is the perfect model for you. Lets make no mistake however, this phone performs superbly, its just that some features have been streamlined to enable a smaller overall chassis of just 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4mm. The weight is similarly impressive at just 105 grammes. Now for the trade off, the processor is scaled down to 600Mhz and HD video capture is omitted, but a 5 mega pixel camera is still included. This really is the perfect phone if you are either on a budget, or you want a smaller model that still offers a good range of facilities.

The HTC S series covers the majority of demands from phone users, with the only possible gap being that no model incorporates a slide out keypad. This however can be forgiven when you see the quality that is on offer across all three models.
