Before buying any kind of wet and dry vacuum , it is necessary to do a little research. You need to know what is available before you can go out and buy it - the size and horsepower of the vacuum cleaner that you are going to buy. They start at one gallon and go up to 22 gallons with horsepower between 1.5 and 10.5. But which is the one that fits your needs?
The first question that you need to ask yourself is what you need it for – for the horsepower requirement would be defined by it. And then follow with another question - what size do you need?
A wet and dry vacuum with one-gallon tank and 1.5 HP is very handy. It can be hung on the wall and is good for spills. Hanging it on the wall, keeps it within reach but still out of the way. A 6-gallon vacuum is good for small jobs. It can be maneuvered around easily and can also be stored easily. Vacuums with bigger capacity are ideal for use in workshops, garages and big stores.
There are other features too that need to be looked into. The filter is one thing that most people ignore. Wet and dry vacuum cleaners come with two kinds of filters — flat and pleated filters. Pleated filters are reusable and can be rinsed off and also filter better than the flat filters. With the pleated filters, you do not need to remove it when changing from dry to wet.
Some vacuums come with leaf blowers, which is especially good if you have a big yard with a lot of trees. Another useful feature that is not found in all wet and dry vacuum cleaners is the drain valve. If your model has such a feature, you do not have to tip the canister to empty it. The extension wand, pump, cleaning kits and hose couplings are other attachments to look for. Make a checklist when you go to buy your wet and dry vacuum . This will ensure that you make the right purchase.
