Cold sores if well looked after will not go away that easily. They will take about a fortnight to clear. You can try simple methods such as applying baking soda with warm water before you apply the over the counter cream. You can make a mixture of vitamin C tablet and salt in warm water and bathe the region with this. The region needs to be kept as dry as possible to ensure that bacteria and virus do not multiply in the warmth.
