The widely varying styles of bar stools are appealing to many different people. Bar stools are constructed in different ways. The basic designs run from plain wooden stools to very detailed stools of varying heights, or custom heights.
Barstools were originally designed for use in public bars and nightclubs, but they are gaining popularity as a chair used in the home, too. Many newer houses have wet bars, breakfast bars or kitchen islands, and these are perfect places to use bar stools.

The widely varying styles of bar stools are appealing to many different people. They include the wooden bar stool which was a fixture in wild west movies, as well as chrome bar stools. The latter are particularly popular today, with their retro charm. Stools also put you at a higher level for watching ball games.

Bar stools are constructed in different ways. Some have arm rests, but some do not. Some bar stools have padding for your back, while others omit this feature. The basic designs run from plain wooden stools to very detailed stools of varying heights, or custom heights. You can find extra short or extra tall bar stools, depending on the height of the bar or island you will be using them with.

In pubs and old-fashioned malt shops, it was not uncommon to see bar stools that swivel. Floor mounted stools were also seen more in the past than the present. The floor type are usually mounted on a basic column, but you can secure ordinary stools onto the floor too, using metal angles on the legs.

Bar stools normally are about thirty inches high, or twenty-six inches if they will be used in a kitchen with a counter or island. You can buy extra-tall bar stools, generally thirty-six inches in height, for higher pub tables or creative home designs. These create a very striking effect in the interiors of modern homes.

Some bar stools are made from bamboo or rattan, and these can be helpful if you are trying to create a tiki bar look in your home. The styles that we saw in the fifties and sixties are increasingly seen in retro public eating places, and black and red vinyl and chrome stools with matching diner chairs or benches make for a great retro look for home or business.

Bar stools are also commonly found in pool halls, with customized spectator chairs sometimes being seen as well. While they were out of favor for years, bar stools are now making a resurgent comeback.
