Nissan introduced the Juke in 2010; it is a small mini-crossover type of vehicle. All 2 wheel drive variants for the UK market are built at the Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd (NMUK) plant in Washington, UK. The four wheel drive version and models for other parts of the globe are made at the Oppama plant in Japan.
The Juke was released a bit earlier in Japan on the 9th of June 2010; where in its first month of availability 10,943 units were sold - this was much more than the 1,300 Nissan had aimed for. Based on the Nissan B Platform the Juke was designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, it was then further refined at Nissan’s Design Centre in Japan.
Three engine choices are available with the Juke, one diesel and two petrols. The diesel is a 1.5 litre with plenty of torque and grunt. The petrol models are made up of a 1.6 litre with 115bhp and the 1.6 litre direct injection turbo that has 188bhp. The bigger and more powerful engine can do 0-62mph in a very respectable 8.0 seconds.
On the 22nd of AUGUST Nissan announced the launch of the Nissan Juke Kuro limited edition model. Kuro means black in Japanese, the limited edition Juke has a dark look to it and is based on the range topping Tekna trim. It comes with new ten spoke 17 inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black and black door mirrors and handles. Two metallic paint options are available: Pearl Black or Force Red.
