In February 2011 Kia unveiled the new Rio; once again it is based on the Hyundai Accent and again shares an all new 1.4 litre engine with the Accent. The latest model promises style and quality improvements throughout the model range, as well as better fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

There will be four engine choices on the launch of the new Rio, a 1.25 litre and a 1.4 litre make up the petrol range. The diesel range consists of a new 1.1 litre and a 1.4 litre. The 1.1 litre boasts CO2 emissions of just 85g/km and fuel consumption of 88.3 miles to the gallon!

All the Rio models are very fuel efficient; Kia has added new technologies to help improve fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. All models come as standard with Kia's EcoDynamics fuel saving technologies, such as Intelligent Stop & Go engine technology, low rolling resistance tyres, a drag-reducing front grille, gearshift indicator and rear spoiler.

Kia has not skimped out on kit for the Rio, even the entry level model comes with daytime running lights, body-coloured bumpers, front electric windows, 15-inch steel wheels, a tachometer and trip computer, split folding rear seats, a boot light, a 12-volt power socket and an MP3-compatible RDS radio and CD player with USB and AUX ports.
