There has been growing trend to drift from PACS to a cloud based RIS. An article by Applied Radiology said that, “As the digital imaging dominion is embraced across the healthcare industry, the quick transition from terabytes to petabytes of data has put radiology on the edge of information overload.” Today, cloud computing offers the imaging department of the future the tools to manage data much more smartly. Cloud medical Imaging is a revolutionary image management and archiving system providing healthcare facilities, physicians and patients the ability to view, share, store and manage their medical images and records. It can help in improving these limitations by providing more effective storage facility and access methods that will scale easily as the wealth of patient information and medical images of healthcare systems continues to grow.
The cloud medical imaging system makes it easier, faster and more efficient to share patient studies with distant specialists for rapid collaborative decision making on appropriate treatments. The cloud computing for medical imaging has therefore gained importance in the past few years as a solution for the problem of archiving large amount of data and sharing images between the medical facilities which are not on a common network. This extensively reduces the implementation time and costs as well as lowers traditional software costs such as large license fees. The subscription fees come with no maintenance or process costs. The advanced cloud computing market in the healthcare sector for medical imaging is expected to grow exponentially in the upcoming years.
The common interaction with medical 2D & 3D images is to apply windows, icons, menus and pointers model. But, the WIMP might not be convenient in some situation such as in the operating room where sterilization becomes as issue. Therefore in this task, the controller free natural interaction on 3D medical imaging viewer software through Kinect camera will be developed to replace WIMP, so that the surgeons can view medical images in the operating room without the contact of mouse and keyboard. The interaction will have both body and figure signs. Furthermore, appropriate controller patterns will be designed according to practical use in the operating room.
The medical imaging viewer is a high level of component for building medical displays applications such as DICOM viewers, view stations, teleradiology solutions and high end diagnostic workstations found in radiology and other special medical sectors. Whether you are building a PACS for radiology, cardiology, mammography, ophthalmology, pathology, dermatology, dentistry or any other special thing, this control will eliminate the complexity from your job and will give you a solid platform on to which you can rely. The medical image viewer is image agnostic and can access and show all form of image files. It allows the staff of healthcare firms to continue the patient care with ease, by providing on-going access to their medical images. The viewer incorporates directly with DICOM store, which is used by hospitals as the central warehouse to preserve, protect and share all their medical images and files. It becomes one of the most necessary tools for the healthcare firms in this technologically developed world.
