Magnolia is a fairly large neighborhood located in Seattle, Washington. It is an utterly beautiful area situated on a type of peninsula just northwest of downtown Seattle. To the south is Elliot Bay, and the north side ends at the Lake Washington Ship Canal. To the west is the Puget Sound. This area, because of its extremely ideal location, has some of the best opportunities for homes with water views in the state. If a certain direction doesn’t have views of the ocean or canal, then it probably has views of the city skyline of Seattle. Magnolia is known as a particularly affluent neighborhood, and many of the city’s high-end residents and professionals have permanent homes here.
Downtown Seattle is extremely close, and the proximity of it makes Magnolia even more desirable. Because the area is largely residential, and known for its privacy and quiet, the contrast of having all the amenities of the city so close means having the best of both worlds. Discovery Park is Seattle’s largest park, and is located in Magnolia. It is a whopping 534 acres, and is a beautiful park with breathtaking ocean views. With a wide range of wildlife including birds and marine animals, 11.81 miles of hiking trails, beaches, picnic areas and tennis courts, Discovery Park is the perfect place to spend the day outdoors. West Point is in close proximity to Discovery Park, and has the West Point Lighthouse perched on its edge. The West Point Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in the surrounding area, and trails connect Discovery Park to the point. The commercial and business center of the neighborhood is known informally as Magnolia Village, and has several specialty stores and shops. This area of the neighborhood is also home to some of the best restaurants in Seattle, and critics and locals agree.
Magnolia is, compared to the majority of Seattle, an expensive neighborhood to live in. Residents enjoy a level of privacy not easily found, and the views are consistently sunset water views or views of Mt. Rainier. Historically, this neighborhood has always been an excellent location, so the area is liberally covered in Tudor, Queen Anne and Victorian style houses. It is easy to find a sweeping historic home in this neighborhood, and many that retain a style and class of days gone past. Those homes lucky enough to be waterfront property are the definition of beauty. There are condos readily available as well, though not as popular. Most of the condominiums built in Magnolia were built a couple decades past, and are often a more affordable option. There are modern condos to be found for the young professionals as well. Statistics site a very low turnover rate for homes in the neighborhood in Magnolia, and there is a simple reason for this: once you move to Magnolia, you won’t want to leave. It is a wonderful place to raise a family and spend the rest of your life in. The Magnolia neighborhood in Seattle is an absolutely ideal place to find your forever home.
