Researches are going on worldwide in renowned labs and universities to bring about revolutionary changes in the field of robotics and small miracles are created almost on a daily basis. Such is the great potential of robotics that many companies have come forward to build robots commercially in association with labs. People have been buying bots for various purposes, domestic, industrial or research. There have been robot fairs, exhibitions too. What is a robot? It is defined as a mechanical device which is capable of interacting with its ambience. It contains various sensors with which it can detect changes in the environment which send this data as feedback helping it to act accordingly. Microcontrollers form an integral part of robot construction. Designed solely for embedded systems, these electronic devices are computers designed on single integrated circuits with a memory, processor and programmable input and output peripherals. These are preprogrammed and can interact with other hardware devices which are the main controllers for robots needing intelligent automaton. The internet contains microcontroller tutorial which robotics hobbyists can download to program their chips. Many websites are dedicated solely to explaining 8051 tutorial and also C for microcontrollers which are needed to program the device. You need to learn Embedded C or C for microcontrollers as it is popularly called for this purpose. Study the 8051 tutorial carefully, go through the datasheet to know the 8 pins and their purposes, the power requirement, the memory and other details.
