The internet provides many relatively cheap methods of self-promotion for your business. Whether you are a new business that is seeking to inexpensively broaden your customer base or an established business looking for new promotion channels for your products, then the internet is the answer to your questions.
There are many ways that your business can market itself on the internet. These include creating a company website, producing a company email newsletter, and using direct email. Your business can use these channels to inform current customers and potential customers about the existing products and services, new products, new services, new offers on products and services and also to impart information regarding the opening of a new branch, closing of an old branch, moving of an existing branch etc.
Usually, businesses hire web designers to create websites for their companies. However, you can also elect to design your own company website. To accomplish this, all you need is an internet browser, a text editor or web design software, a webspace and domain name, and software for uploading.
An internet browser enables you to view the webpages you are creating. The text editor or web design software will help you create the website. For customers to be able to access your website you require a web server or a webhost that is connected to the internet. The web server will store your webpages. And the URL that people will use to access your website is your domain name.
Finally, the software for uploading will permit you to publish your website on the internet. On your website, you can include information about your products, your services, the locations of your branches, your contact details, and you can also periodically post any news about your organization.
Direct emails are another way of marketing for businesses. Business usually acquire account lists from email service providers, acquire an email software and send emails to the account holders informing them about their business. Although, when practicing this form of marketing you have to study the local laws regarding the sending of commercial unsolicited emails.
You can also market your business through the use of email bulletins. Email newletter are a form of ‘responsible’ email marketing, that is, the emails are sent with the permission of the recipient. To get subscribers to your enewsletter, you can have consent forms either in your store or on your website in which customers can give you their email addresses.
