Here, readers will find information regarding importance of a chiropractor or physical therapist after a car accident.

There are some excellent Rhode Island and Massachusetts chiropractors and physical therapists who know how to diagnosis and treat neck and back pain after a car accident. As a Rhode Island personal injury lawyer, I routinely communicate with chiropractors and physical therapists following personal injuries and offer the following insights.
If you have never been involved in a car accident before and you are experiencing neck pain or back pain, you need to seek medical attention. Sometimes, those with acute neck or back pain may first go to an emergency room or their doctor. If there are no fractures, then some common diagnoses for neck pain or back pain after a car accident are (starting at the top of the spinal column): cervical strain (neck pain), thoracic strain, or lumbar strain (low back pain). More serious injuries such as a herniated disc or other disc bulge will not be seen on an x-ray and typically will not be initially diagnosed. As I have written before, these injuries involve disruption to the muscle fibers and have typically been termed "whiplash" injury due to the violent action of your body being whipped back and forth due to the force of the car accident. Many of us have suffered from neck and back injuries and they can be painful, unpleasant, and if not properly treated, turn into a chronic condition.
If you are injured after a car accident, the published medical studies conclude that it is essential that you seek further treatment. Your primary care physician is not accustomed to treating neck and back injuries, or to monitoring you for suspected disc bulge or herniated disc. Rhode Island and Massachusetts licensed chiropractors and physical therapists are trained to diagnose and treat neck and back injuries suffered in auto accidents. The good news is that these personal injuries usually resolve within several months of treatment. If they do not resolve, these professionals are also trained to watch out for more serious injury to the spine such as disc bulge or herniated disc.
As a RI personal injury lawyer, I have reviewed numerous reports from Rhode Island and Massachusetts chiropractors and physical therapists. When you find an experienced, top rated chiropractor or physical therapist, you will: (1) greatly increase your chances for recovery; and, (2) greatly increase your chances of a favorable legal settlement for your personal injury case. As to (2), this is because when you get into a car accident and are not at fault, the insurance companies will try to deny your personal injury claim by arguing that you are not hurt. Without an experienced chiropractor, physical therapist and personal injury lawyer in your corner, the insurance company will delay evaluating your claim, likely deny your claim (or offer you a lowball settlement), and/or hire an insurance defense lawyer to fight your case.
After a car accident or other personal injury situation, don’t risk your health and personal injury case by going it alone or hiring the wrong RI personal injury lawyer. Delay can only hurt your health and your personal injury case.
