The Hindi matrimonial customs and traditions vary from state to state. The Khatri, Gaur, Sonar, Yadav, Thakur and Rajaka community members also practice similar Hindi matrimonial rites.

The Saraswat Brahmins are originally from the region where the mythological Saraswati River flowed. The community members originally resided near the riverbanks. The Saraswat Brahmin community is said to be one of the oldest communities in India and have their distinctive culture and customs. The matrimonial rituals of this community are still preserved. The Saraswat community has several sub-communities such as Kutch Saraswat, Rajasthan Saraswat, Sind Saraswat and Kashmiri Saraswat. There are also members residing in Uttarakhand and Konkan region as well.
The Saryupareen Brahmin community originally hails from the eastern part of the Sarayu River, hence derived its name. The members have spread to other Indian states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Delhi. For Hindi Matrimonial Alliances, the Saryupareen Brahmin community usually considers related ethnic groups like Kanyakubja Brahmins, Jujhautiya Brahmin, Sanadhya Brahmin, Maithil Brahmin and Bhumihar. Some common surnames for this community are Trivedi, Tiwari, Pandey, Tripathi, Shukla, Upadhyay and Mishra.
Apart from the Brahmin community, the Kayastha community or caste of India also follows the rituals and customs and comes under the Hindi Matrimonial. The members reside in several regions of India but are mostly found in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Some common surnames for used by the Kayastha community families are Saxena, Karanam, Verma, Kanth, Mohanty and Bhatnagar. The Hindi Matrimonial rituals for the Kayastha community include pre and post wedding rites. Some important pre- wedding rituals are Bariksha, Sagai, Mehandi, and Haldi and Tilak ceremonies. On the wedding night, the Kanyadaan ritual is very important one. The bride’s father gives away her hand to the groom and asks him to take care of her daughter hereafter.
The Rajput community is a warrior class originally from the state of Rajasthan. The community members have spread to other Hindi speaking regions of India. Hindi Matrimonial alliances for the Rajput community take into consideration matching of horoscopes and Gotra. Though residing in any part of India, the Rajput community follows their traditional wedding customs. The Aggarwal wedding rituals are Baraat, Varmala, Ashwahrohan, Vamang sthapan, Pannigrahan, Sat Pheras, Sindoor Daan and Doli Vidaa. The community members are mostly in business and trade. Hence, the wedding celebrations are lavish functions with a huge number of guests attending.
