“Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell not stuff to show”
As the famous saying goes, the Thessaloniki couple Eleni and Christos have numerous fresh, adventurous, and inspiring travel stories to inspire and empower other travelers. In their travel blog, they share their unique world travel experience. These two restless world travel enthusiasts have already explored more than 85% of the globe and still go for more.
Their world travel journey started on the 11th of September 2015. They planned the trip from scratch on their own and had no idea of what was going to follow. The first hurdle in their trip around the world occurred at the Istanbul airport where the ground hostesses questioned them about the Visa for New Zealand. They didn’t take a visa for New Zealand because European citizens don’t need a visa for at least three months, not even the electronic one (ESTA). They only had a series of one-way tickets, which will take them all around up to Chile’s Santiago and Argentina’s Buenos Aires and then back to Europe. Once the confusions were cleared, they took their flight to Singapore. Even there, they had to face a few immigration issues. After completing all the procedures, they successfully landed in Auckland.
During this travel they participated in Maori Cultural Performances at the Mitai Maori Village, Napier, Huka falls in Taupo, the river Waikato, and The Waitomo Cave. From Auckland, they reached the Cook Islands and Rarotonga, the paradise on Earth where they enjoyed an amazing sunset. They cruised with the Titi-ai-Tonga, in Lagoon and flew to the island Bora-Bora with a propeller aircraft of Air Tahiti.
It was a dreamy journey for them as they rode along the beautiful beach of the island on bicycles and swam through the clear water.
On September 21st, they celebrated their wedding anniversary in the entirely green and beautiful Tahiti Island. They began their journey to Easter Island, one of the most difficult and most expensive, at the same time, touristic destinations on September 22nd.
They visited Rano Kau - the lake of the crater, Orongo – an ancient stone village, Ahu Vinapu, Ahu Akivi, Ahu Tahai - the northeastern part of the village, Hanga Roa – the quarry of the giants, and Anakena - the most beautiful beach.
Eleni and Christos took the flight to Santiago of Chile and enjoyed the views of the lake Llanquihe after reaching there. They arrived at Valdivia at the season of the Spring Carnival and then visited Pablo Neruda’s home, the “La Chascona”, at the Barrio Bellavista neighborhood.
The last part of the world tour journey included eight days travelogue in four different countries: Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Uruguay. Those days they visited Iguasu waterfalls, Santa Anna’s ruins, San Ignacio Mini ruins, Macuco Safari, Santa Maria, Punta del Este, La Mansa, Casa Museo de Rivera, and more. Their adventurous world tour reached its end on October 6, 2015.
Unlike other travelers, this restless couple is not accompanied by any travel guide and embark on these trips on their own. In their travel destinations, they start every morning not knowing what they will find ahead of them on the road. The idea of travelling without a guide may be frightening, but for those who take the risk ‘the rewards are amazing.’ They share their travel experience and tips in their travel blog ‘MyTravellingDays.’
