Imagine several dozen men on a simulated battlefield, all decked out in authentic-looking gear and carrying near identical replicas of modern weaponry. This is Airsoft, the incredibly popular military simulation game that's played all over the world. Airsoft enthusiasts meet not only in large groups on the playing field; they also meet online to discuss their hobby in user groups and forums. One such forum for Canadian players is team.airsocom.com.

The site, which can be found at team.airsocom.com, has many valuable features including the standard boards for asking questions or participating in discussion threads. Some of the more popular topics are Upgrades & Modifications, Doctor's Corner (repair topics, not medical issues), and Airsoft Guns Discussion. At last count the site listed thirty-six sections with tens of thousands of current threads and nearly as many users.
In addition to the discussion boards, team.airsocom.com also provides retailer posted advertisements, picture galleries of both weapons and battles, a calendar for members' posted events, and an Internet Relay Chat service. Registration is required for posting to the discussion boards, but guests can view individual posts and picture galleries without becoming a member.
The site's community section provides links to dozens of Airsoft teams across Canada. Groups like BCAC, CIA and Prince George Airsoft in British Columbia, EAR, JOC, and RAAT in Alberta, MAA in Manitoba, and 1st Ranger Platoon in Ontario. A cursory click-through of these links reveals that some of the sites are no longer available, but most are currently up and running and looking for new recruits.
You'll find some typical banner ads on the site along with both local and internet search options. Team.airsocom.com has the basic forum look and feel with very few frills, but it loads fairly quickly and is easy on the eyes. As far as forum sites go, it's what one would expect from a large and successful one.
