The state's scenery or perhaps better said, landscape, ranges from wide, pink colored deserts to mesas, to high, snow-covered mountains.
I have researched or studied a flag or two in my life and from all the flags I have seen attached to steel flagpoles, the flag of New Mexico is definitely one of my absolute favorites. The colors are unique and can be very much identified with the state's history. The flag shows the colors red and yellow, a red sun and yellow flag-field. Interestingly, but not surprisingly, the colors have remarkable resemblance to the colors that are displayed on the flag of the Kingdom of Spain. They are very much vibrant.

Interestingly, these beautiful bold flag-colors symbolize or represent a person called Isabella of Castille and some of her near associates. Similar or the same colors are used on the national Spanish flag, flown from small and tall flagpoles across the other side of the world. The NM flag is relatively young in comparison to other historical flags of the United States of America, the USA.

The state's scenery or perhaps better said, landscape, ranges from wide, pink colored deserts to mesas, to high, snow-covered mountains. Despite the state's "arid" image, forested mountain wildernesses cover a significant portion of New Mexico, especially towards the north portion of the state. Interestingly, the government of the United States protects tons of acres of the territory as national forests.

During the very first few years of statehood in the Union, New Mexico did not have, let alone fly a representing flag from small and tall fag poles. During the World Fair of 1915, which was held in San Diego, the flag displayed on behalf of New Mexico was unofficial and showed a blue background with Old Glory in the canton. Also, the words "New Mexico" and the number forty-seven were displayed in silver colored letters in the middle of the flag.

According to official and non-official sources, including myself, the New Mexico flag is one of the best designed flags in North America. Every so often, specific surveys are held by organizations of all kinds, reviewing the flag in terms of colors, overall designs, representation(s), etc. On a sunny day the flag displays especially nicely from residential flagpoles.
