About a proper way to clean a window blinds.
Like that favorite piece of furniture you have in your home, blinds should equally receive a good amount of attention and proper care. Wiping them with the usual dust cloth and polishing them are probably on top of mind properly caring for your blinds, but there’s more to making your blinds look spotless and clean. Here are some tips on how you can clean and protect your blinds depending on their material so they can last wear and tear.Wood BlindsWood is the most susceptible to wearing and tarnishing among the blinds, so it’s best to stay away from using moist cloth (especially dipped in detergent) in wiping the dust off it. Use a piece of soft, dry fabric and wipe it along the slats of wood blinds, or use a feather duster. Alternatively, you can always use a vacuum cleaner with a square or cylindrical brush attachment to remove the dirt. If using a damp rag can’t be avoided, particularly when the wood blinds have stubborn stains on it, move a damp cloth or sponge lightly along the slats, wipe with a dry cloth afterwards to remove excess dirt, and moisture, or allow to air dry.Aluminum BlindsLike wood, perhaps the easiest way to clean aluminum blinds is by wiping dry cloth along its slats weekly. Dust build up would increase significantly if blinds are not cleaned weekly and will leave a stain on the blinds when raindrops happen to land on them. Deep cleaning, which involves taking the blinds down and washing it with water and soap should never be an option as aluminum, although it doesn’t rust, tends to corrode in time. You may also want to consider ultrasonic blind cleaning, which uses frequency to clean metals and stones, and one of the blinds cleaning methods that’s currently gaining some popularity nowadays.Honeycomb BlindsBecause of its shape and how the slats were held together, honeycomb blinds are perhaps the trickiest, if not the most difficult to clean among the different types of blinds. Use a feather brush to remove dust from the folds of honeycomb blinds, or use vacuum with a soft-bristled brush instead. If you encounter some stains on the blinds, then it is acceptable to use a soft cloth or wet sponge to remove them in a (blotting motion). You can also use some mild detergent in removing the stains from the blinds, although it is not generally advisable to do that.
