Swimming pool filters are one of the most vital devices in swimming pool maintenance. Without a good filtering system, you will not have a sparkly clean pool and most likely, you will not enjoy a good swimming experience. Choosing the best pool filter is very necessary to maintain the purity and sanitation of your swimming pool area.
There are three basic types of swimming pool filters that you can choose from, this includes the sand filters and cartridge filter. All of these types of filters are effective in doing its job; however, they also have their own disadvantages, so be sure to pick the one that will best serve the needs of your swimming pool area.
Sand filters are the most affordable, and common type of swimming pool filter. Of the three types of pool filters, they can be considered as the least efficient, but since, they are affordable they are still popular.
Apparently, as its name suggests, this filter is filled with sand. The pool water is pulled towards the sand filter and pressed through the sand layers. The sand filters out the impurities in the water and allows only clean and pure water to pass through.
After the water is allowed to pass through the sand filter, it flows back into the pool. Sand filters can be cleaned in a process called backwashing where water is allowed to enter the bottom of the filter and exit at the top. There are also times that the sand gets very dirty that you need to replace the sand in the filter which is not expensive at all. Although they are very easy to use, it does not clean the water very effectively and sometimes, it leaves out small dirt particles unfiltered.
Cartridge filters is one of the types of swimming pool filters. It works by letting the water pass through the filtering material. The filtering material catches all the impurities and allows the cleaned water to flow back into the pool. Cartridge filters are the most popular type of pool filter.
Cartridge filters requires some kind of maintenance to be able to function effectively. Once the filter is full of debris, you need to remove the filter and clean it by gently spraying it with clean water with a hose every once or twice a swimming pool season.
There are other types of swimming pool filters that you may choose from. Remember that when choosing any kind of pool supplies, like pool filters, the first thing that you should consider beside the budget is the needs of the swimming pool.
