Fire is believed to be one of man's first discoveries. Fires caused from lightning striking is possibly man's first sight of it. With all of it's uses fire is interesting for it is much like other necessities of life today, where in excess it could be fatal, however when respected and used properly, it is such a great facility. With the emergency candle thirty six hours of burning is available. This amount of time is what allows the emergency candle to be used for light as well as a cooking and heating source. Our whole world revolves around the use of electricity. Before the 1800's,
static charges were just a mere curiosity for many scientific researchers. Although electricity

Today, when human beings actually go through a power-outage where electricity is not available for a certain length of time it really becomes a form of shock. Many problems may cause a power-outage. One of the biggest problems with the loss of electrical power due to a power-outage is visibility limitations. In a severe power-outage such as a blackout, the problems may take up to three weeks to resolve so experts in the emergency preparedness industry recommend having backup sources of emergency equipment and lighting. Mainly, there are three categories of power-outages. A Transient Fault, A Brownout, and A Blackout. The Blackout is the most extreme power-outage because it pertains to more technical problems,
therefore takes much more time to resolve the issues. A Transient fault is a simple fault in the power line, usually a short circuit and many times it is caused by a tree limb. In this case the power is out for a short time in a certain area and once the problem is located it is repaired and then usually all is well. The brown out occurs when the voltage of an electrical supply drops. In this case the voltage is not pushing the current at the level it should be doing, therefore, requires some more technical repairs. The worst is the blackout as the problem usually pertains to the core of a power station. The blackout is a type of power-outage that lasts much longer than other types of outages due to the analyzing of major components of a power station. A Blackout can last up to three weeks before it is resolved. We should always be thankful for inventors and pioneers such as Michael Faraday. God gave Faraday the gift and ability to figure out how to make electricity useful and because of this the use of electricity became a major milestone for mankind. In the case that your power did happen to go out and you did not have the use of electricity for a certain length of time, you can be prepared ahead of time with the right amount of emergency lighting.
