Going for an education in management in India is a wish of many students. Whichever stream they might have studied their graduation in, students feel that having an MBA degree at hand gives them an obvious advantage in the race for the best companies at present. This idea of theirs is also fuelled by the demand by the various organizations for managerial competence among the new recruits.
To fire the present rush, professionals who have done a few years of job are also taking up MBA courses to make them more acceptable in the job market. As the race for MBA education intensifies, the contest also starts among these aspirants to get the seats in the best colleges in India. And as these colleges are the best in the country, they admit the students through a battery of tests to select the top students for their institutes. And rightly so, these colleges have the best placements as well as have gained reputation in the whole of India as well as the other countries.
The institutes like IIMs, IITs and the many MBA colleges in the individual states are admitting students through the entrance tests. The XAT 2012 is an exam for admitting students into the Xavier institutes located in Jamshedpur and Bhubaneswar. The test is conducted in the month of January and the students who are appearing in this exam are required to solve the quantitative aptitude, verbal reasoning and also have to write an essay which is one of the exclusive things about the XAT exam.
For admissions into the management courses in the IITs in India, the JMET 2012 would be conducted. This exam is also conducted in the month of January for which the application forms are submitted by December of the previous year. These tests are of high quality and as they involve negative markings, the ranks secured by the students are based on quite close calls. Unless a thorough preparation has not gone into these entrance exams, it is really quite difficult for the students to crack the entrance.
For admissions into the state MBA colleges, students are required to appear in the CET 2012 which is held at different times for different states. These exams are also quite tough which requires a thorough preparation on part of the students. But it is the CET exams which are admitting most of the management students as the number of colleges are also quite high. The IITs and IIMs are few in India and the total seats in the colleges are not more than 1000, which is the reason for their stiff competition level.
Although lakhs of students actually prepare and appear in these tests, clearing the ranks with good marks is a bit hard on part of every student. Only those who would be securing good ranks in the XAT 2012 and the JMET 2012 would be able to take admissions. The times are quite competitive for students to get through the entrance exams and therefore one should realize that it is the quality of preparation that one needs to go through these ranks.
