With this busy world we live and our horrible economic stance, most people are busy trying to make ends meet leaving them no other choice, but to do their internet researching on the go. Thanks too smart phones all the internet searching we use to do at home such as checking emails, looking for places to eat and updating there social networks can be done anywhere by our smart phones. According to an article on CNN by Amy Gahran smart phone sales are up 96% from last year. Also in an article by Eric Zeman of Information week and Sarah Kessler of Pew Internet Project Report also include the following stats:
• 9 out of 10 mobile users have taken action as a result of a smart phone search.
• 77% of local information seekers call or visit a business after looking up local information on their smart phone.
• Three quarters of smart phone shoppers report purchase decisions were influenced as a result of using a smart phone.
• Three quarters of smart phone shoppers report purchase decisions were influenced as a result of using a smart phone.
• 82% of smart phone users notice mobile ads
This leads me to the reason I’m writing this article. I want to give you 10 good reasons why your website should go mobile.
1. Google has a separate index for mobile content.
Google has a specific index for mobile content so if you have a business that people frequently look for. Having an index with direct access to your website would be lucrative for business.
2. Your regular website is not going to cut it.
Living in a world that is always on the go most people use there smart phone for all there internet research; however without a mobile website the accessibility to your website from a smart phone is not very user friendly. If you have ever had to side scroll to view something on a website, you realize how much of an inconvenience it can. This is magnified on a mobile device. Even with the ability to turn the device lengthwise, the resolution is still extremely small. There is a difference in design between a regular website and a mobile website on a smart phone because on a mobile phone, there is a limited amount of screen
3. 1/5 of Americans access the mobile web each day.
This percentage rate is increasing every year with all the new smart phones out there. If you don’t have a mobile website you’re not putting yourself out there and your competition surely will take up the opportunity.
4. bile web will overtake the desktop within 5 years.
In a few years mobile websites will take over the desktop computer because the usage and adoption is growing at a much faster pace than the desktop did.
In the future, the majority of visitors to your website will be on a mobile device.
5. $1.6 billion purchased from mobile devices in 2009.
Millions of people are already purchasing from there mobile devices.
Recent studies have shown that buyers still do not have the confidence in purchasing from their mobile device as they do from their PCs, but both comfort levels and the amount being spent on mobile devices is increasing rapidly so it’s just a matter of time that people will feel comfortable. There’s always a little hesitation at first, but after some time people will be confident enough to do so.
6. 93% of U.S. adults own a cell phone.
Not all cell phones have Internet access, but that is the trend and won’t be going backwards so more and more people will have them. It is safe to say that in the near future, all phones will have some form of online access, whether it is being used or not.
7. 5% of the top 500 online retailers have a mobile website/iPhone app.
I was rather surprised by how low this number is. But then again, this means great things for the rest of us who are not in the top 500 online retailers.
I am willing to bet that one of the biggest reasons that you’re not ranking as high as you would like is because your competitors are doing a better job than you are in some shape or form.
8. Mobile advertising spending will surpass $6.5 billion in 2012.
Ad spend is a great way for us to see the current status of an industry. If someone is willing to spend their hard earned money putting their products in front of users on the mobile web, you can assume there is a pretty good reason for it.
Additionally, if consumers continue to spend more year after year, that is indicator that the previous year’s investment paid off and that is exactly how mobile advertising becomes a trend.
9. Users average 13 hours online per week, up from 7 in 2002.
As people become glued to there smart phones with all the new apps being created. Online usage is increasing regardless of the device used; accessibility is going to be the next level to increase online usage.
Back in the day a desktop or laptop use to be the only way to access the internet, but now with internet enabled mobile phones, the internet has truly become mobile. Now it’s just a matter of service availability from your mobile phone network provider such as AT&T and T Mobile or Verizon.
10. There are an estimated 2 billion cell phones worldwide.
Not only are there a lot of cell phones worldwide, but they seem to outlast their owners, there are great recycling and refurbishing programs that use old cell phones as emergency dialers or resell them at discounted rates.
As you can see, the mobile web is rapidly increasing and has a lot of room to grow. If they have a stock for mobile websites, now would be the time to buy. It is the closest thing to a guaranteed money maker investment.
