A good classroom environment is created by establishing and maintaining positive attitudes in pupils towards their work. A classroom where every child listens to the teacher without questioning anything or where students raise their hands before answering questions, doesn’t mean that the class is well regulated. It is the duty of the school management and the teachers to create an environment for the students where they can also get a platform to discuss their views and opinions.

A classroom environment where the teachers and the students enjoy the process of education is said to be an ideal classroom environment. Creating a healthy class room culture is the ultimate goal of the classroom management system. Managing the students and the classroom environment are skills that teachers develop over time. To sustain a healthy environment during the lectures and after that also, the teachers need to understand the students and their likings or disliking first.

To be sure, effective teaching requires considerable skill in managing the myriad of tasks and situations that occur in the classroom each day. The teachers need to develop a sense of consistency, fairness, common sense, and courage to handle the unwanted situations in the class. Teachers first need to be role models of discipline, compassion and sincerity to their students first. By portraying such a character before the students, teachers can easily make them understand the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. There are some means that teachers can follow in sustaining a healthy environment in the classroom. These are as follows:

1. First the teachers need to make a plan on how to deal with the students. This can be done in the beginning of the academic year. When a teacher ignores the small mistakes repeated by the children every day, the teacher is basically paving the way for a rough life of the children.

2. A teacher needs to be fair and equal towards all the students of the class. Children have a distinct feature of understanding what is right and what is not. So any biasness from the side of the teacher may turn the students to disrespect the teacher.

3. When you have classroom disruptions, it is imperative that you deal with them immediately and with as little interruption of your class momentum as possible.

4. It is a truth that not every student is equal in understand the classroom topics. One may catch the lecture delivered very fast where as the other may take some time to grab it. It is the responsibility of the teacher to help the students in the difficult areas of study.

5. Positive encouragement works as a booster for the students. It helps lot in encouraging children towards maintaining a sound classroom environment.

Though the ultimate responsibility lies to the teachers only to convert the four walls into a powerhouse of knowledge, the parents and school management can also forwards their hands in doing so. When children develop a sense of respect towards the school and the teachers, they automatically start following the rules.
