This topic is all about the best neighborhoods in the Seattle area where you should investigate for real estate investing.

When you think of Seattle, you think of Starbucks and its heavily-caffeinated urban yuppies, Nirvana, and Bill Gates. But more than that, it has great neighborhoods as well. According to Trulia, a popular real estate website, Seattle ranks second in the top ten cities that people should rent rather than buy. As my Grandpa always told me: “There’s an opportunity in every circumstance.” So, even in the midst of an economic slump, Seattle real estate investors have something to celebrate about.
Anybody want a Frappuccino with that?
And while you’re still deciding whether to get a decaf or not, allow me to let you in on some of the best neighborhoods in the Seattle area where you should investigate for real estate investing:
Bellevue
What else is there to say? Aside from the fact that it’s one of the fastest growing cities on the Eastside (thanks to Microsoft, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc..) and the sixth wealthiest in Washington’s 522 communities, it’s not too big of a deal, right? Well, let’s not forget that it’s ranked number four in CNNMoney’s 2010 list in the best places to live and launch a business.
Magnolia
Magnolia’s houses remind me of Cate Blanchett’s character, Queen Elizabeth---in the 20th century. While these upscale houses (comprised of Victorian, Tudor, and other old-world architecture) have an air of simple elegance to them, you can’t help but be charmed by its small town atmosphere as well. Many wealthy individuals live near the water, and Discovery Park (the biggest park in Seattle) should make your dog get hyped up as well. And while it may be on the upper end of the price scale, it might just meet your investment criteria primarily because of its desirable neighborhood and closeness to the heart of Seattle.
Finnhill
Professionals. Managers. Salesmen. Office Workers. Families. If you belong in one (or more) of these categories, then you are in for a good time. And if you are an investor, then you should look for people who fall under these categories because many of them live in this area. CNNMoney lists it as one of the contenders in its list of Best Places to live in 2007. Not bad.
West Seattle
If you like the word, “Eclectic” then you should like this place. West Seattle’s cool atmosphere can be divided into these areas: The Alki Beach (great for beach-lovers, sports fanatics, people-watchers), Delridge (best for golf and nature lovers), Fauntleroy (ideal for ferry lovers, nature enthusiasts, and even swimming pool fans--not kidding!). “Eclectic diversity” rocks in this area BIG TIME.
Fairwood
Fairwood is at the south end of Lake Washington, and it’s one of the cities to watch for in Seattle. It is close to downtown Renton with all of the new construction of commercial and retail areas. It’s also close to the spectacular new Seahawks headquarters and training facilities, as well as the new shopping area, “The Landing”. With newly-updated freeways, shoppers will also find it an ideal spot to “unleash” their splurging urges. If you can, try to direct their urges to buying a property there, instead. They’ll thank you later.
Seattle offers one of the best values in real estate investment today. With a little patience, a bit of digging, and a little luck on the side, you’re sure to find something in the city that will be worth investing in the long run.
