As we all know an equation is a mathematical expression which shows the equality of two expressions.</p> <p>For example 2x + y = 6.</p> <p>Algebra is a branch of mathematics in which letters and symbols are used in place of numbers and quantities to form an equation and formula. Algebraic expressions is basically an expression having one or more variables made up of signs and symbols of algebra. Symbols can be Arabic numerals, alphabets along with mathematical operators. Examples 4xy = monomial, 8x – 7y : Binomial, 2x + 2y – c : Trinomial</p> <p>Terms are of two types, Like terms or Unlike terms. Terms that has the same power of the same variables are called Like terms whereas the terms that do not contain the same power of the same variables are called Unlike terms.</p> <p>The steps for solving equations are:</p> <p>Firstly remove all the fractions in the equation Then remove the parentheses . Combine all the like terms so that we get all the variables and terms together. Move all the variable terms by adding or subtracting on both sides of the equal sign so the variable terms are all on one side of the equal sign.
