We may have different lots in life, but many of us share in the problem of having growing expenses but income is quite the same. So we find ourselves tightening our belts here and there, foregoing luxuries and prioritizing needs, only so that we can survive our everyday needs. But if you do have some extra money, would you like to start a small business in sheet fed printing? You can do this if you have shortened working hours at work because of cost reduction so at least you have extra time after work. Or if you are a stay at home mama and would like to help in the family income. You could be anybody with some extra time in their hands. You can start with at least one of the many printing press grade sheet fed printers in the market and you are already in business.
One of the greatest expenses when you start a printing business, aside from the machineries and equipment, is office space rental. But with just one or two units of a sheet fed printer, you can just put them all in your garage or in an empty room in your house. You can convert the extra space into a small office/workshop. You can set up a business computer there plus another one for your graphics design. Or if you are just starting up and do not have a lot of capital, having just one laptop with an external hard drive for backup and extra memory would do the trick.
Go shop around for the best quality printers at the best rates. You can start with a small unit that can print on a bond-paper size. But even with this, you can already find a good unit that print faster than those desktop printers. And the ink is more cost effective, too. These units, however, are more expensive than desktop printers.
Among the many things that you can print at home are invitation cards for different events, business cards of friends who have their own businesses, fliers, or personalized stationeries. As your clientele and orders increase, you may want to experiment with different products. Customized items are very in-demand so look at what you can offer with your current capabilities.
Look for nice special papers that you can use for your invitations and other special orders. Make samples or templates that you can present to potential clients so that they can just choose. Be accommodating for requests that are customized. You may just want to add some extra charge to that if it is too much to do and could not be covered by your regular rates.
Don’t shy away from orders related to printing but you do not offer yet. This may be your chance to expand your horizon and add to your existing products. Go to the internet for more creative ideas related to sheet fed printing that you can apply to your business. Clients are always looking for fresh and unique ideas and the best place to do your research is online. Sometimes you would not need instructions—you just need to see photos of new products online and then you would know how to interpret it in your own setting. The more innovative products you have, the faster your printing business will grow. Sooner or later, you will again be on the lookout for new sheet fed printers that you can add to your growing business.
