If the students are having a dream of entering into the Air Force as the proud recruits in different positions, they will have the opportunity of their life time by appearing in the AFCAT 2012. There are three branches of Indian defence system, of which the Air Force is considered as the most prestigious and the most thrilling among the three. It is very obvious that thousands of people become interested in joining the air force, both as soldiers and as civilian staff in other technical fields. Air Force provides the eligible candidates to get trained in some technical subjects by appearing in an entrance exam, which when completed lets people work in the air force in different posts. With the vast opportunities that are available for the interested students, the study of these courses is becoming immensely popular.

The AFCAT 2012 will be held to admit the students in different courses such as flying branch for men and women, technical branch for men and women, ground duty branches for men and women and the UES-2013 entry for men. When the students clear their entrance test of AFCAT in the year 2012, they will be able to study these courses starting from 2013 in two sessions of January and July. Each of the branches has different qualifications required and these are to be attained if the students want to choose the branch.

In the technical branches for men, there is the aeronautical engineering in electronics and mechanical for which the engineering graduates with the above subjects are eligible, provided that they have minimum of 60% aggregate mark in their BE or BTech courses.

Ground duty branches are supposed to train the candidates in administration and logistics for which the eligibility is graduation or post graduation degrees in any discipline, where there is a requisite mark for passing. Another branch that can be chosen is that of accounts for the students who have a graduate degree in commerce or post graduate degree in M.Com, CA or ICWA with 50% mark. There is one more branch of education where the students can undertake the course if they have passed graduation or post graduation in any discipline with 60% and 50% marks respectively.

Another branch that is available for the students for the UES entry is that of aeronautical engineering in electronics and mechanical where the students can apply even if they are in the pre-final year of their BE or BTech engineering degrees in any recognised university.

After passing the AFCAT 2012 test, the students will have to undergo the test for the allotted duration of time, after which they get a placement in the air force and get the jobs in the short service commissions. These are jobs with respect as well as a good pay scale, due to which a lot many students are interested for the upcoming test. With the opportunities to study in the said streams, people can get into a prosperous career in the air force of India and go up higher in the echelons of the most sought after defence service of the country.
