Refer to the following tips:
1. Make sure the power management setting in the laptop OS is correct.
2. Some laptops have self-correction programs for battery. Some batteries can be self-corrected by such a process.
3. If your laptop does not have self-correction programs for battery, you may refer to the following steps to correct battery.
a. Fully charge the VGP-BPS9 battery with laptop turned off.
b. Unplug the adapter and turn on the laptop.
c. Speed up discharging the battery by normal use or play DVD or games until the lack of power warning appears.

e. Check the power meter and see if the charge goes back to 95% to 100%. If yes, the battery has no problem. If the charge is still low, please repeat the charging and discharging process one more time. If the problem still exists, it’s very likely that the battery is faulty and needs to be repaired.
Almost all the laptop batteries are made of li-ion cells. Inside the Sony laptop battery, there is power management IC, which can monitor the usage condition and record related information of batteries. With the increase of use times or improper use, the information in power management IC will deviate. Therefore, the battery needs to be self-corrected for normal use. Put in simple, battery self-correction means a complete process of battery charging and discharging without interruption. With the function of power management IC, the battery can be self-corrected to the optimal state. Generally speaking, a normal laptop battery can undergo 500 charging and discharging cycles. That is to say, a battery can only be used for 1 to 2 years if we use it everyday. However, the battery self-correct function can not solve the problems caused by aging chemical materials.
