Solar Photo Voltaic, or PV, is a slightly newer technology than solar thermal and the principles are simple.A chemical reaction generates electrical current within the panels (which again are usually found on the roof of a building) and this electricity can then be used in the home to power appliances which have traditionally been solely reliant on the national grid and its fossil fuels.
The idea behind a typical home installation is to cover the “base load”, this covers appliances such as fridges, low level lighting and any other low demand but constant draws. It is not designed to cover all electrical demands such as kettles, irons etc as they have high power requirements and would require much larger PV installations.
A Solar PV Grenwich is a system which uses one or more solar panels to convert sunlight into electricity. It consists of multiple components, including the photovoltaic modules, mechanical and electrical connections and mountings and means of regulating and/or modifying the electrical output. To fully measure the potential economic impact of solar PV development, the economic stimulus
related to the investment must be traced beyond the Installation and Operations and Maintenance
phases back to the manufacturing activity related to the components that go into the systems. If
PV development is seen solely as an effort to put new systems on-line, then the benefits of
development will be seen as largely accruing to the communities and states that have good
resources and can host the developments. However, the benefits of investment in PV are not
limited to the localities where the installations occur.
