Lack of sleep can slow the body’s ability to heal itself, harming the immune system, slowing recovery, and adding to stress, irritability, depression, and low functioning due to inability to concentrate. Practically everyone has experienced a sleepless night. The body and brain can recover from them if they only happen once in a while. However, chronic sleep deprivation can lead to a range of serious problems, and a general decrease in the quality of one’s life.

In many cases, people simply have trouble making the time to sleep enough. In spite of all of the recent developments in technology, some industrializes populations actually have less healthy relaxation time than they did a century ago. Across the globe, people are working harder and longer than ever. With mounting responsibilities of work, families, perhaps higher education, etc., modern people are simply not always finding the time to take care of themselves and rest properly.

And even when we do find time to sleep, we are not always able to do so. Millions of people across the world have sleep problems of different types and severities. These may be caused by consuming stimulants like caffeine, stress, health problems, sleep apnea, or many other things. In some cases, the mattresses are to blame. A bad mattress can lead to all kinds of problems, from simple discomfort that disrupts sleep to severe back and neck pain. Mattresses of all shapes and sizes, double mattresses and super-king sized, pillow top, no-turn, and pocket sprung, are available to those who are on a quest to be able to sleep soundly through the night. Various manufacturers and experts make claims that one mattress or the other is the best. However, it seems as though it may not be quite as simple as that.

Finding the best mattress seems to be a matter of individual preference. For instance, the memory foam mattress is a favorite among many. It was made by NASA for use on manned space missions, and many believe that the way that it contours to the body makes it the ultimate type of mattress. However, some people simply can’t get used to the feel of it. Now you can get a bed that combines soft springs into the memory foam mattress. The technology will surely keep progressing.
