If you don’t live too far from the office or don’t have to take any major roads to get there, and your office doesn’t have too strict of a dress code policy, you could try and see if walking or taking a bike would be an option for you.
With the prices of gas not too driver friendly, cars creating traffic jams, and the weather being so nice, getting behind the wheel every day is not all that fun anymore. If you don’t live too far from the office or don’t have to take any major roads to get there, and your office doesn’t have too strict of a dress code policy, you could try and see if walking or taking a bike would be an option for you. With some simple tips you can easily start getting to your office without turning the key in the ignition.

Women are known to carry big purses full of everything from a spare top to daily planner, to even a hammer. When you put your oversized, heavy purse in the car, it doesn’t make much difference what it is you have in there, because you only carry it from the car to the desk and back, often not even bringing it to the house. If you seriously consider leaving the car in the driveway, your first step should be to make some purse changes.

Take absolutely everything out and separate into must have, don’t need and not sure piles. Don’t allow yourself any maybes or ifs, just make quick decisions and don’t look back. Once you’ve done it, you’ll see how many items you really need, and that’s when you can pick the right size bag for you. Try to go with something that is comfortable, has wide straps that won’t cut into your shoulder, so that you can easily walk or ride with it. If you need to take your laptop with you, leave the unnecessary accessories at the office, and at the most take a mini mouse with you. After all the less you pack, the less you’ll have to carry.

If you plan on riding a bike, you can allow yourself a slightly more packed bag, because there are numerous baskets on the market that can be attached to single speed bikes, they are both functional and pretty, and will hold everything you need. And if you’re worried about riding a bike in a skirt or love to wear high heels, don’t be. Think about all the women you’ve seen in movies or in Europe who put on a longer skirt, tie their espadrilles around their ankles and jump on a bike. They have an air of freedom around them, not to mention they look cute, so they’re definitely worth copying.

Walking or riding a bike to the office is definitely healthier than just taking your car, but it might be tiring, so before you leave the house, check for the best, easiest routes. When you get on the road, try to stay in shade whenever possible and be cautious of other bikers so that you don’t walk in their way or cut them off on your bike. If you’re aware of your surroundings, chances are you’ll get to the office with no problems, but with fresh air in your lungs and cheeks rosy from some morning exercise.
