The person dealing with severe constipation often has a full feeling and experiences the need to go often.
Severe constipation causes is often the result of poor dietary habits and a sedentary lifestyle. Fiber needs to be an integral part of the diet. But, modern foods are processed to the point where fiber and nutrients are completely gone. Ingesting certain foods can also lead to severe constipation. A diet high in fat and low in fiber is a sure way for constipation to appear. Severe constipation is a sure sign of chronic dehydration. When there are not enough liquids to process food, the stools produced are hard and compacted. Exercise is critical to insure that the intestines get the proper oxygen and nutrients. If the colon doesn’t perform well then severe constipation pain can follow.

- Rectocele occurs in women after menopause. The rectum bulges towards the vagina and stool may get trapped there.
How can you treat severe constipation pain? The best way to treat any condition is by finding and dealing with the underlying problem. Then you treat the symptom of severe constipation and any problems caused by the symptom. A doctor may recommend changing your diet and starting exercise. These changes will give long term relief of the severe constipation. For relief of the immediate issue, hydration and fiber can provide relief. Laxatives and enemas can be used, but only in the short term. The colon can actually become addicted to them doing the work. Complications caused by severe constipation are often relieved once the problem is dealt with.
