It’s a small world after all when you make a batch of treats with a Minnie Mouse cookie cutter. You may not live near Orlando or California, but your little Princess will feel like she’s having lunch with her favorite Disney characters as she frosts the frilly dress and fills in those famous mouse ears. Serve up a plate for your Princess, and make every day a dreamy one. Cookies can inspire imaginations. Read below to learn how you can inspire your little prince or princess every day.
- Have a tyke who is anti-math? Cook up a variety of numbers with your number cookie cutters, place a piece of butcher paper on the table and practice addition or subtraction. Subtraction will be an obvious favorite, as your little mathematician will be able to ‘take away’ numbers by eating them! You can do the same thing to practice a spelling list. Bake the alphabet, call out a word and watch with delight as your child arranges the letters to eagerly spell the word.
- Inspire a love for fruits and vegetables by using small cookies to bake mini apples, bananas, carrots, peas, squash, potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. For each serving your little eater consumes of the real deal, reward him with a cookie version. This way, dessert has an actual purpose.
- Tuck a superhero cookie into your tyke’s backpack on a day when he or she needs some extra “oomph.” If it’s exam day, a Superman cookie will remind your son that he can do anything. Even if he’s so old that he groans at the gesture, he’ll smile inwardly, pleased that his mother still thinks and cares about him.
- Instead of hiding chocolate eggs, have your children help with the decorating of oval cookies. While they’re asleep, hide them throughout the house, but make sure to wrap them in pastel cellophane first. Even ice one cookie with the words “You’ve won!” and present a dollar to the child who finds it. Those bakers who have a good deal of patience may even choose to inscribe a Bible verse on the cookies, reminding their children that the season is truly about Jesus and not the Easter Bunny.
- Host a tea party and invite all of your daughter’s favorite characters by making cookies in the shape of Princesses. Of course, don’t forget that Minnie Mouse cookie cutter!
