Some of the first class positions at the topmost level of management include CEO (chief executive officer), COO (chief operating officer), CFO (chief financial officer), board chair, President, VP (vice president), MD (managing director), chief personnel manager, financial controller, Director, etc. Companies pay handsomely not only to these big officers but also to the recruitment agencies that help them get hired. Great money is spent on hiring these chief professionals, however, employers usually prefer those who have already been working with the organization from long. The old employees are well versed with the functioning of the company and have been loyal winning them higher preference and credibility. But when senior management jobs are extended to outsiders, companies don’t mind going a great deal to ensure that a well deserving candidate is called on board.

Senior Managers are generally hired on the basis of the long years they have spent in the industry, the expertise they have attained, the prestigious companies they have worked with earlier, the project success they have had, the benchmarks they could set, the further potential for the new organization, the education background, the personal profile and other such factors. All the above is important to ensure that the both the company and the chief officer fit each other well as they tend to become each other’s responsibility. Undeniably, senior management jobs in India forms the most significant part of the talented manpower pool in an organization.

The role of senior managers involves motivating the managers, reviewing company’s performance and working in line with its mission. Futuristic ideas, deep industry knowledge, clear understanding of market trends, skills in diverse managerial functions and other such qualities are required in top managers of an organization. Jobs for senior managers are usually held by one person for long as people avoid changing companies at such stages but if they are offered handsome hikes and pay packages, they are open to changes. Almost all the industries and corporate companies operating across the country have a high portion of their revenue reserved for distribution among managers. Those with jobs in senior management are continuously flattered and showered with rewards for their precious contribution.
