“Education is the manifestation of perfection already in man”- Swami Vivekananda. When we are born, our senses are not fully developed to think and act rationally. With the course of time we develop skills to understand things and to act or react accordingly. In the process of development, many factors contribute. One of the important factors is education. It is though education that we get an insight into the world. It opens up the window of knowledge to us and paves the way to enhance it.

The basic years of educational life is very crucial in the sense that during this period we develop most rapidly. Thus it is very important to nurture good habits and provide us with healthy environment in that period. There are various factors that facilitate the academic life of a student. These are- family environment, parent child relation, peer influence, school environment, school facilities and the communication with the social groups.

The purpose of education is not just to teach children how to read and write, but to develop different life skills in us, to develop the personality and above all to expand our horizon of knowledge. In a school, the school lab, classroom, sanitation and library facility are some of the most important things that parents should look for before admitting their child in a school.

The school library is a place where children get a chance to expand their sphere of knowledge about the outside world. Modern day school libraries are fully equipped with books of different tastes, journals, newspapers, research study materials, e-learning materials, computers and the Internet. Every student now can access to the internet and thus can search their study related materials on the Internet. In a school library, there is a librarian who looks after the activities of the students inside the room.

The students can seek the help of the librarian while searching particular study materials. Moreover, it is beneficial for the economically backward students. They can take the reference book from the library for a particular time period. By this way they need not buy expensive books for their academics. The school library also safeguards the students from being involved in unethical activities. During the free hours, students can read novels, newspapers, journals and other important articles in a library inside the school. Thus it helps students use up their time in a productive manner.

School libraries are often over-looked, yet have a greater influence on the life of a student, particularly younger ones, than most people believe. The staff of the school information services team must collaborate with teachers and the school management to provide students with learning contexts, processes and skills as well as opportunities for wide reading, personal growth and fulfillment; provide teachers with the support they need to develop information-literate students; provide resources to meet curriculum needs; provide functional facilities and a congenial environment to support the school's wide range of information needs. Library programs need the public’s support now more than ever. Thus we have to accept the constructive role of a school library in a particular social setting.
