In the past, Apple devices were dependent on Macs and PCs when it came to backing up their devices as well as software updates. Whenever you had to back up files, you would have to plug-in the device into your computer. If ever software updates rolled out, you would have to do the same. With the new iOS 5, the iPhone 5 will now be free from any wires needed to plug into your Mac and PC. With this new iteration to Apple's OS, it has no more need for wires.
Whenever you need to add a new folder on devices such as the fourth generation iOS-powered smartphone or the iPad 2 such as new email folders, you would have to plug-in to your PC or Mac to make these changes. This also works when you are planning to edit photos captured on your device. You would have to plug-in and edit your captured images from your computer. With the software upgrade, this will all change. You can do all of these things straight from the fifth generation iOS-powered smartphone.
On the past version of Apple's OS, you would still have to plug-in to back up your files. Whenever you lose your device, you would have to hook up your replacement device to your computer to get back the files you lost. This will no longer be the case with the Apple iPhone 5. Since the iOS 5 will be bringing iCloud to the picture, you can now backup your device on this new cloud storage. You will get 5 GB of free online storage to back up files such as apps, documents, and so much more. You no longer have to back up files on your computer's hard drive. The iCloud will not only back up your files, it will give you extra storage. This means that you can free a lot of space on your mobile device. Up in the clouds, you can store your multimedia, documents, and apps. This will also allow you to share your files across your other devices such as your iPad 2 or iPod Touch.
On the Apple iPhone 5, you will also get to enjoy more from wireless updates. Whether by Wi-Fi or 3G network, updates will roll out directly on the smartphone. You never have to update via your Mac or PC. It all happens over the air.
With the up and coming Apple iPhone 5, you will get to enjoy a PC-free smartphone.
