Samsung unveiled three new touchscreen cameras, out of which two comes with dual LCD screens and one with a WiFi capability. The dual screen cameras from samsung are the world’s first with one screen in the front and one in the back.
DualView TL225
First up is the 12.2 megapixel Samsung TL 225. The TL225 has an expansive 3.5-inch touch-screen LCD on the back that enables users to take advantage of an intuitive new Smart Gesture interface. It’s easy: Draw an X on the screen to delete an image; to rotate, draw a circle. When in playback mode, swipe the screen to advance to the next image.
Features:
- 12.2-megapixel sensor
- 3.5-inch touch LCD screen in the back
-1.5-inch LCD in front
- 4.6X optical zoom
-high-definition video (720p) at 30 frames per second
- dual image stabilization
- face detection
The 3.5-inch touch LCD screen on the back of the TL 225 is also unique since it is very high-resolution and offers haptic feedback. When you touch a virtual button on the camera’s rear LCD, it gently shakes to confirm you pressed it. LCD screens on most compact cameras contain 230,000 dots – the more dots, the more detail. The TL 225′s back LCD screen contains 1,152,000 dots so images should look very sharp.
DualView TL220
The cameras share many of the same specs except TL220 has a smaller 3-inch LCD) unlike TL225 with 3.5 inch screen. Both models have a 12.2-megapixel sensor fronted by a wide-angle 27mm lens with a 4.6X optical zoom. Samsung includes dual image stabilization and face detection. The cameras can capture high-definition video (720p) at 30 frames per second using the H.264 video format.
Advantages of Dual LCD
- It’s a great solution for self portraits, and combined with the company’s Smile Shot, you don’t even have to press the shutter release to snap photos of yourself–you just smile.
-If you set the timer it’ll show the last few seconds counting down before the shot’s taken. Lastly, you’ll be able to play animated clips to get the attention of children, and perhaps pets, while you try to take their picture.
- You can have the LCD show camera settings like macro or flash, or you can have it display a smiley face when the shutter release is pressed halfway down, letting the people you’re shooting know that a picture’s about to be taken.
Samsung CL65
CL65′s claim to fame is incorporated geo-tagging and a range of network connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and DLNA. The Wi-Fi radio will let the camera jump onto any Wi-Fi network to transfer photos to devices on the network. The camera’s Wi-Fi also supports the new-ish DLNA networking protocol, which attempts to simplify network sharing of pictures, video and music.
Positioned as the camera for the connected consumer, the 12.2 megapixel CL65, once connected, lets you upload photos and video to Picasa, Facebook, and YouTube via Wi-Fi, send photos to phones via Bluetooth, and share with TVs and PCs via DLNA. The camera also comes with a 5x optical zoom, 720p HD movie-recording capability, and an HDMI output (for viewing media on your HDTV).
Price
Samsung TL225 will retail for $349
Samsung TL220 will cost $299
Samsung CL65 will cost $399
