Sample thesis proposal is needed to be placed before starting the project work. The proposal will briefly describe the research work you intend to do. The initial pages of your proposal will describe the importance of your chosen problem statement and the new values that you want to add through your research work. It will also describe the thesis statement and the hypothesis.

The research methodology is another important section where the sampling techniques, data collection method and the analytical techniques will be described. For a research work, the investigator may adopt census enumeration method or sample survey method. If the investigation is based on the population as a whole, it is called census enumeration or complete enumeration. On the other hand, if it is based on a part of the population it is called a sample survey. Since, in census method all the units are included, it becomes costly and it consumes much time and labor. But here, the results arrived at would be accurate- they are free of sampling error. Here, the data doesn’t require deep statistical analysis. Sample survey is more scientific in its nature. A well planned sample survey will give as valid a result as census method. Sample survey is cheaper than census method as it will consume less time and labor. Sampling error in sample survey can be reduced by adopting proper techniques. Sometimes, census method is preferred to sample survey. In testing costly and sophisticated instruments produced by a company, census method is preferred because highest accuracy of quality with regard to each and every item is needed. On the other hand, sometimes, sample survey is preferred to census method. A manufacturer of electric bulbs, in order to test life of bulbs produced, has to adopt sample survey because, census enumeration will result in fused bulbs. When the population is very large, sample survey is preferred, where as, when it is small, census enumeration is preferred. Anyhow, validity of results of a survey based on a sample depends mainly on the method adopted for selection of the sample and the size of the sample. The next important thing is the collection of data i.e. primary or secondary data as required for the research. One of the methods is-
1) Indirect personal interview- In this method, the investigator doesn’t contact the units directly but, he contacts persons who are in close association with the units. These persons supply information to the investigator. The method is especially useful in different situations like collecting data regarding drinking habits of workers of a factory by contacting the bars of the area. This method is costly and consumes much time and labor. This method can be adopted only when the number of units is small and there is scope for biasness in this method.
There are other methods available for collecting data and they have their own merits and demerits.
The collected data to be treated with different analytical tools and these tools to be used must be briefly described in your proposal. There should be bibliography at the end of your work.
