Things in a home can be hazardous for a baby who just started moving (toddler) up to a high extent. Here are some tips on how you can make your home a safe place for your child
|
A house or apartment can become a minefield for a baby after he/she begins moving. Electrical outlets, cleaning products, furniture edges, kitchen appliances and some other things can be hazardous. So here are few important points to make your home a safe place for your child.
The kitchen is the area of all hazards for babies.
• Access to the kitchen: The ideal is that the baby should not go alone in the kitchen but it is not always easy especially if you have an open kitchen or if your kitchen has no door. In this case, you can forbid the access to your little one with a fence.
• The table (or other furniture for sharp corners): Your toddler can hit it on the corners and hurt themselves, so put rounding for protection. You can also ask your furniture manufacturer to make the corners in round shape.
• Knives: It is imperative to always ensure that knives are inaccessible to your child and all that cutting and spades. Be vigilant as with the other settings: the handle of a spoon can also be dangerous if your child sticks it in his palace.
• Dishes: Put it in a closed cupboard for if a dish in itself is not a risk, a broken plate becomes very sharp. Ditto for the glasses.
One more thing to remember is that you should buy the kids furniture only from the specialist or well known furniture manufacturers to ensure the strength, safety and reliability. Wooden flooring can be more protective instead of traditional marble flooring.
• Cooking plates: Make sure all pans placed on these plates have the inward handle and have the habit of cooking food on the plate where your toddler can not reach. Know that there are protective barriers to be placed on the stove. From about 20 cm high, they are a good barrier to prevent your baby from burning their fingers.
• Oven: When it is working, it gives off light and the fascinated baby necessarily want to touch it. One solution: Keeps it away, closing the door of the kitchen while cooking. And if you do not have a door in the kitchen (open kitchen), use an oven guard insulation. Now days, many modular kitchen cabinets offers inbuilt protective solutions.
• Cleaning products: A baby will want to try or to discover such products and even if these products are fitted with safety caps, do not leave within reach of baby. They should be placed high up and preferably in a closed cupboard.
• Closets: If your cabinets contain objects or products that may injure or poison baby, close the door with locks adapted.
• The high chair: if the baby is sitting on a high chair or booster, secure it with a safety harness in order to prevent falls. It should not be able to pass either above or below.
• The trash: It should not be opened or opened too easily, the risk that baby rummages in it. Choose a pedal bin, so that it cannot be opened by the baby.
• Green plants: If you have in your kitchen, it may be that your young child wants to eat the earth. Place a protective flower pot above the earth.
• Electrical outlets: This precaution is obviously true for other parts of the house. The electrical switches and the plugs should be well covered with resistive materials or the protective shields. And try to keep the electrical boards at a comfortable height where your child can not reach.
• Other objects: Do not let them reach to hand matches, lighters, candles and toothpicks and some other adult objects which can turn into weapons for young children who cannot use it. Keep in mind that an accident can happen very quickly.
Namely
All security objects to be bought from the supermarkets or nursery departmental stores specializing in childcare.
• Over shock.
• Protection stove, oven guard.
• Door locks.
• Protection for flower pot.
Nothing will ever replace the vigilance of the parents. Never leave a child alone in a room or in a garden where there is no active surveillance of an adult.
