Safe or Scam? SEO Software Review of WebCeo, SEO PowerSuite and SEO Elite

As an old-time user of SEO products, I’ve grown increasingly curious about SEO software industry’s pricing setup. So how much is too much to pay for SEO software, and how much is too little to bring us webmasters the desired SEO value? Let’s take the case of WebCeo, SEO PowerSuite and SEO Elite.
Honest to goodness, back in the day I used to buy into this organized religion: “Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."
Ok Google, as you say, I am going to sit here and wait for you to find me. So I faithfully wrote “good content” and waited. And waited some more. And got tired of waiting.
So now when another loonie tells me “stop using SEO software, it’s a scam”, I say Over My Dead Body, and keep getting more words on Google page 1.
But hey, don’t you rush to a download site picking SEO tools at random. You need to know something important about this industry -how much their stuff is really worth.
========WEBCEO==============
You will pay $499 for Professional Suite. Then, after 3 months, you pay for search engine updates called “Knowledge Base Updates”, and that will cost an average of 11 bucks per month.
So in reality you pay $598 first year, and $132 per year from then onwards.
========SEO PowerSuite=========
The initial purchase will come to $249 for Professional version. Then, after 6 months, you pay again, for search engine updates called Live!Plan, and that will cost you around $8 per month.
So in reality you pay $297 for first year, and $96 per year from then onwards.
=========SEO Elite===============
Cheeeep. $167 a pop. No subscriptions, and no trial version to see if you actually like the software… for a reason - the search engine updates are hard to come by, and you get the software which painfully reminds you of SEO PowerSiute, minus the interface, and minus the weekly updates.
======= Search Updates – To pay, or not to pay?=========
This may cause a riot, but I take things for what they are – quality SEO products need to be updated regularly to keep up with Google’s weekly algo changes. Get a tool that claims to update search engine algos for free- expect nothing but sluggish updates and inaccurate results.
=======Without much ado, here’s the verdict========
WebCEO – safe, effective, pricey, slow*
SEO PowerSuite – safe, effective, reasonable, quick*
SEO Elite – safe, cheap, ineffective
So, is SEO software safe to use? Sure, but get one that actually works.
