You don’t have to be Dale Winton, or Reg Holdsworth, to realise that supermarkets now do a large portion of their business online.
The point was emphasised when Morrisons announced a rise in annual profit of £874million for the 12months ending in January, up from the £858million the company made one year ago. Even though the figures are impressive, it warned of a difficult year ahead as it bids to catch its rivals in the online sector.
Big Four
Currently, Morrisons is the only one of the big four supermarket chains – along with Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda – that does not boast a significant online business.
Its’ efforts to research e-commerce has seen it announce a £32million investment in US internet grocer FreshDirect, a company that is seen as the leader in offering fresh food online. In February it also acquired baby goods website Kiddicare for £70million.
Other leading supermarket chains have been quicker off the mark with regards to internet shopping. In addition to the grocery elements of their websites, including home deliveries; there is also Tesco Direct and Asda Direct offering deliveries of everything from CDs and clothing to DIY and car goods. Furthermore, both Tesco and Sainsbury’s offer their own diet related websites for nutritional eating.
Check out these savings
Supermarket shopping online has a number of benefits – not only will it save you time, but you can usually arrange for home deliveries to suit your schedule and ensure that only the finest produce is selected. It’s also a good way of budgeting as you’re less likely to stray away from a strict shopping list online when compared to wandering around the aisles and being tempted by the latest offers.
Some people would say that shopping online with these reductions is a kind of catch.Yes, it is. However, in no case it is detriment for the consumers. Companies have devised this mechanism in order to increase their clients and the volume of goods that are sold, which significantly increase their profits. Customers, on the other hand, can buy any kind of goods from the internet at a much lower price than the price at which they could buy the same goods from a nearby shop. Big winners in this case are also the internet providers and the administrators of various advertising sites. As you see, it is forming a chain in which everyone is benefiting from something.
Is it possible these codes to be false?
You know that there are many crooks in Internet. So here you also should be careful. Although the cases with false codes are not many, it is not impossible to happen to you. Therefore, it is advisable to trust only certain sites that are known by good reputation in the industry. It is not difficult to find such websites. Before you get the promotional code, you should read the comments and recommendations from the customers who have already used such kind of vouchers.
Typically there are savings to be made online too as most supermarket chains regularly publish discount codes. Check out our supermarkets section for more details including Tesco coupons, Asda discount codes and a Sainsbury’s promo code.
