Even though these older 16bit video game consoles are fairly obsolete these days, there are still many people who remain staunch follower of the SNES Classics. A rage in the gaming world at one time these games were as popular as a GTA or a Halo of today.
Launches in the early nineties SNES was made by Nintendo and distributed by Hyundai. Gamers who were till then used to an Atari console, fell in love with Nintendo. Called the Super Famicon in Japan and SE Asia SNES revolutionized gaming in the last decade of 20th century.
Today when placed next to a PSP, Xbox or a Wii, SNES looks analog and retro but there are SNES lover all over the world still waiting to play their favorite SNES ROMS on rainy Sunday afternoons when you feel nostalgic.
The second generation console launched by Nintendo after NES, its graphic and sound capacities was fairly extraordinary for its time. Some of the most popular games were, Kirby Super Star, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Super Mario All-Stars, F-Zero, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Gradius III, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, Super Castlevania IV, MegaMan 7, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Street Fighter II: Turbo, Super Punch-Out, Final Fantasy III, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest, Mega Man X, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Today if you want to play any of these SNES ROM classics there are not many platforms that allow you to do so. Gaming experts and die hard fans have devised ways to modify these SNES ROMS to their PC and some very lucky individuals still have a SNES console that works. They can keep playing these retro gems in the truly traditional way they were meant to be played.
SNES made many more SNES ROMs; these are but a few of the ones that got exponential popularity with the gaming masses. Mostly arcade games none of them allow you super versatility of a point of view play. There were also very few sports games. The most beloved character is a plumber called Mario who has over 200 games to his name. The Super Mario turned 25 this year and it is unbelievable that so many years and so many gaming generations have passed since then.
If you want to experience these SNES classics first hand figure out a SNES emulator that will allow you to play them on your idevice or your Wii.
